On Friday October 31, on the day before the beginning of the 132nd. Argentine Polo Open Championship, at Palermo, one of the most remarkable tournaments of the season in Argentina is due to commence – the Cámara de Diputados Cup. The competition, which is played simultaneously with the Argentine Open, will see sixteen teams up to 29 goals. Teams are split in five leagues.
The splendid trophy that is presented to the winners was donated by the Cámara de Diputados of Argentina, in 1922, in recognition of the extraordinary performance delivered by the Argentinian team in their first international tour that year, that saw them victorious in the British Open and the US Open. The tournament was first played a couple of years later, in 1924, and that historical first edition was claimed by Santa Ines, a lineup made of Daniel Kearney, Carlos Land, Guillermo Brooke Taylor and Jack Kennedy. Thoroghout the years, the Cámara de Diputados Cup growth has been significant, and became the second most important tournament of the season in Argentina, after Palermo.
The first matchdate of the Cámara de Diputados Cup will take place at the Argentine Association of Polo Headquarters in Pilar, with the following order of play:
