Title holders, Park Place, and La Dolfina Tamera secured victories in the first day of the 2026 edition of the USPA Gold Cup, the second tournament of the series The Gauntlet Of Polo, that commenced on Wednesday March 4, at the National Polo Center (NPC), set in Wellington, Florida, United States. The competition sees ten teams up to 22 goals, in participation. Teams are split in two brackets.

 

Park Place, who won the contest in 2025 in the final against Coca Cola, were victorious against newcomers Clinova The Sandbox by a 15-9 score. In the follow-up, last year runner up, Gillian Johnston’s foursome, lost against a merciless La Dolfina Tamera by 12-8.

 

The USPA Gold Cup will resume through Thursday March 5 and Sunday March 8, withthe following schedule:

  • Thursday March 5

3pm: Clearwater vs. Pilot

5pm: BTA vs. DUS

  • Saturday March 7

1pm: Clinova The Sandbox (0-1) vs. Coca Cola (0-1)

3pm: La Dolfina Tamera (1-0) vs. La Dolfina Scone

  • Sunday March 8

5pm: Pilot vs. DUS

 

The USPA Gold Cup was established in 1974, and has been played at many different states and clubs, such as Oak Brook Polo Club, in Illinois, Milwaukee PC, in Winconsin, Greenwich Polo Club, in Greenwich, New Bridge Polo Club, among others, and was relocated in Florida, in 1979, at Palm Beach Polo and Country Club. The first winners of the contest were Milwaukee (Tom Hughes, Tommy Wayman, Joe Barry, Robert Uihlein III), following a thrilling final that ended in an extra chukka, with Wayman producing the winning goal. Some great teams took home the title more than once, including Valiente (2012, 2013, 2014, 2017, 2018), Audi (2011, 2015), Crab Orchard (2007, 2010) and Scone (2021, 2023). White Birch holds the all-time record wins with 12 titles spanning three decades.

 

THE FINAL OF THE USPA GOLD CUP WILL BE PLAYED ON SUNDAY MARCH 29.
