The final of the brand new Abierto Aznar, penultimate tournament of the spring/summer season in Sotogrande, took place on Sunday September 7 at Ayala Polo Club, after the end of the 54th. International Tournament. The competition, that began on Wednesday September 3, saw six teams up to 8 goals, compete.

 

Marqués de Riscal and John Smith played the decisive game; it’s worth to note that John Smith’s patron, Gabriel Aguirre swapped places with his son, Gabriel Jr., and went to play with Alejandro Aznar’s organisation.

 

Although it was a very close contest, John Smith claimed the first chukka, and Marqués de Riscal took the lead from the second chukka onwards and maintained the advantage for the remaining of the game, led by a remarkable performance delivered by Patricio Neves. At the end of the the day, Marqués de Riscal won 8-7.
