La Dolfina BN were victorious 9-7 over Calatagan, and claimed the 15-goal Royal Windsor Cup, in the final that took place on Sunday June 22, on The Queen’s Ground, the main field at Guards Polo Club, set in Windsor Great Park. It’s worth to notice that La Dolfina won two titles through the weekend; under the name of La Dolfina Scone, they lifted the Warwickshire Cup at Cirencester Park Polo Club, on Saturday.
Unlike the lineup that took part of the Warwickshire Cup, Adolfo Cambiaso didn´t play with the lineup who won Guards Polo Club’s oldest tournament. Cambiaso was subbed in by Tomás Panelo, who, in addition, scored all of the goals for his teams, most of them on penalties.
The final of the Royal Windsor Cup, the oldest tournament played at Guards Polo Club, being the first edition in 1955, on the same year of the club’s foundation, greeted Zara Tindall, HRH Princess Anne’s daughter, His Majesty King Charles III’s niece, and the second granddaughter of the much beloved Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Zara presented the awards not only to the polo teams, but also to the best carriages, following the traditional vintage carriage parade that takes place at every final of the Royal Windsor Cup. In addition, the day at Guards Polo Club was enriched by the extraordinary group, The Knights Of Middle England, who delighted the spectators with their remarkable equestrian skillis, and medieval jousting, wearing armors and the colorful clothes of the Middle Ages.
Meanwhile, Amanara won the Subsidiary Mountbatten Cup. The cup is an accurate tribute to Lord Louis Mountbatten, a brilliant naval officer, war hero, polo player and a remarkable figure with regards to the development of polo in England.
