Habtoor defeated UAE 9-7, and clinched the Dubai Silver Cup, in the final that took place at Al Habtoor Resort & Polo Club, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on Saturday January 24. The prestigious competition, already in its sixteenth year, saw five teams up to 20 goals, partake

Habtoor and UAE, the derby of polo in the Middle East and two of the strongest organisations within the area, kicked the match with a scoreless first chukka. By the second chukka, Sheikha Maitha and her boys delivered a strong performance and claimed a three goal advantage.

But that was all for UAE, because Habtoor managed to make a comeback, under the command of Bautista Bayugar. Although they were tied at 7-all in the penultimate chukka, Habtoor held UAE scoreless while founding the flags twice to secure the 9-7 win and their fifth Dubai Silver Cup.

On a personal side, for Mohammed Al Habtoor it was his fifth Silver Cup, as well; Bautista Bayugar lifted the trophy for the third time (it’s worth to note that he wasn’t able to play in 2024, due to an injury); and the first for Marcos Solari and Toly Ulloa.
