The Hublot Polo Gold Cup Gstaad finally commenced on Saturday August 23, with the semifinals, after the delay  that obliged to cancel the games scheduled for Thursday August 21, due to heavy rainfalls. The Polo Club Gstaad, hosted two hard fought semifinals, with Gstaad Palace and Albinati Aeronautics victorious. The tournament sees four teams up to 14 goals, partake.

In the first semifinal, and following two very balanced first chukkas, Gstaad Palace made an impressive comeback against Kielder Agro (with 8-goaler Nicolás Pieres), to earn an impressive 5-2 lead in the third and penultimate chukka. Min Podestá added a goal to widen the advantage in the fourth chukka, but Kielder Agro made an attempt to get at least an extra chukka, through three unanswered goals by Nico Pieres. However, time was running up and at the end of the day, Gstaad Palace claimed the 6-5 win and the first ticket to the final.

Up next, and in another tight contest, Albinati Aeronautics had to battle hard to beat Hublot. It was not easy at all for the two teams; the scoreboard read a 5-all at the end of regulation time, which meant that the game would be decided in extra chukka. That’s when Santiago Cernadas produced the winning goal, to seal the deal and secure Albinati Aeronautics the 6-5 victory and the spot in the decisive match.

Gstaad Palace and Albinati Aeronautics will go head-to-head in the championship match of the Hublot Polo Gold Cup Gstaad on Sunday August 24, at 3pm (Switzerland time). THE FINAL WILL BE STREAMED LIVE ON POLOLINE.TV
