The British Open Gold Cup resumed on July 5 at Cowdray Park Polo Club as Les Lions/Great Oaks claimed another win and Park Place Vaara took their first victory in the competition.

Up first, Les Lions/Great Oaks secured a 14-12 win over Scone. The match was very close in the first two chukkas, but Les Lions/Great Oaks pulled ahead as of the third chukka, led by the brilliant Bartolito Castagnola, who scored five goals. Nicolás Pieres, on the other hand, scored six goals for Scone. (Score Les Lions/Great Oaks: 2-2, 3-3, 7-4, 9-6, 12-8, 14-12).

Next, Park Place Vaara took their first victory in the tournament after beating Polo Stud Schockemöhle 8-6. The winners managed to take a 6-4 advantage in the fourth chukka, but Polo Stud Schockemöhle made a comeback and closed the gap to one goal in the fifth. However, Park Place Vaara were able to score in the sixth to seal the deal. (Score Park Place Vaara: 0-1, 2-1, 4-3, 6-4, 7-6, 8-6).

The Gold Cup for the British Open continues on Monday, July 6, with two matches:

12pm: Monterosso vs. Next Generation
3pm: Park Place vs. Thai Polo NW
