Gaston defeated UAE by a 13-11 score, and claimed the Trippetts Challenge, following the championship match that took place on Saturday May 17, at Cowdray Park Polo Club, in Midhurst, West Sussex, England. The first 22-goal tournament hosted by the club, the Trippetts Challenge saw five teams, in participation.
Gaston dominated the match and the scoreboard since the start – they took a 3-1 and 6-1 advantages in the two first chukkas. UAE managed to bounce back in the third chukka, to shorten the gap, and by half time they were three goals behind (5-8). After half time, and despite UAE struggled to get closer in the scoreboard, Gaston always remained in control, always three or four goals ahead of Sheikha Maitha’s foursome. By the time to play the sixth and last chukka, Gaston had a 13-9 lead. However, UAE were far from giving up – they outscored they contenders 2-0, but the damage has already been done; luck was on Jean-Paul Luskic’s team, and took the coveted title.
Previously, White Crane won the Subsidiary, after beating Murus Sanctus (5-3) and tied at 4-all with Ferne Park, in a round robin between the three lineups.
