The Dutta Corp defeated La Dolfina Scone 14-9, and won the CV Whitney Cup, the first tournament of The Gauntlet Of Polo, in the championship match that took place at the National Polo Center (NPC), set in Wellington, Florida, United States, on Sunday March 1. The series, that is played at the NPC in its entirety, is completed with the USPA Gold Cup, and the much anticipated US Open, the most significant tournament in the United States.

Jimmy Dutta and Co. completely dominated the score, in a match that many expected more balanced against a powerful La Dolfina Scone foursome. The Dutta Corp closed the first chukka with a remarkable 3-1 lead, and widened their advantage to a commaning 8-3 by half time. The second part of the contest was not much different; The Dutta Corp – that featured Dylan Rossiter subbing in for Felipe Miguens – swept La Dolfina Scone by winning 10-4 and 12-8 in the fourth and fifth chukka, respectively – meaning that. by the time to play the sixth and last chukka, the deal was almost said and done. And that was it – after a brilliant display of team play thorughout the whole game, The Dutta Corp outscored their contenders 2-1 in the last chukka to secure the 14-9 win and the first title of the 2026 The Gauntlet Of Polo.

The CV Whitney Cup saw nine teams up to 22 goals, compete. Teams were split in three leagues.

Originally known as the U.S. Handicap, the C.V. Whitney Cup was established in 1979, and first competed for on handicap in conjunction with the U.S. Open Polo Championship. In 1988, the tournament was renamed for C.V. (Cornelius Vanderbilt “Sonny”) Whitney, an avid polo player and three-time winner of the U.S. Open (1928, 1937, 1938) and son of 10-goal Hall of Famer Harry Payne Whitney. Inducted into the Museum of Polo and Hall of Fame in 2022, Whitney left a lasting mark in polo. Rising to a 6-goal handicap during his playing career that spanned the “golden era” of polo, Whitney was a formidable factor in all major USPA tournaments.

The Gauntlet of Polo will follow with the USPA Gold Cup and will come to an end on April 26, with the much anticipated championship match of the US Open.
