And it’s a wrap! The 54th. International Polo Tournament, at Ayala Polo Club, in Sotogrande, hosted the last game of a very busy and competitive season season, on Saturday August 30. Amanara and Dos Lunas were ready to play the much anticipated championship match of the high goal Gold Cup, that would be the ice on the cake of the most important polo series in Spain.

Dos Lunas, who received one goal on handicap, maintained their advantage over their contenders during three chukkas. The story would commence to change in the fourth chukka – Amanara, with Barto Castagnola as their flagship man, led the action; by the end of that fourth chukka, they were tied at 8-all, until Amanara, in a remarkable fifth chukka, claimed the lead – 12-8. A very hard fought last chukka would follow, with both teams producing one goal each, but at the end of the day, Amanara were victorious 13-9.

It’s worth to notice that Amanara won their second title in their first high goal season in Sotogrande – they already had the Silver Cup under their belt. A remarkable season for the blue jerseys. indeed, despite Nicky Sen was unable to play this final due to an injury in her right arm. She was subbed in by Martín Romuáldez.
