Due to the forecast of heavy rain expected to hit the city of Punta del Este throughout Saturday, January 10, the Uruguayan Polo Federation decided to move the matches scheduled for that day forward to Friday, January 9. As a result, polo took center stage on that date for the grand final of the 73rd Uruguayan Polo Open.

Following the conclusion of the women’s tournament, which wrapped up its inaugural edition on Thursday, the men’s final of the 73rd Uruguayan Polo Open was played on Friday afternoon. The tournament had begun on December 31 with the participation of five teams. Río Negro Los Tapiales and Cría Opatí Polo Team advanced to the final, facing each other at Santa Cruz Polo Club. In another thrilling match, Río Negro claimed an 11–9 victory to be crowned tournament champions.

The Río Negro Los Tapiales team, playing off an 18-goal handicap, featured Santino Taranco, Alejandro Elhordoy, Lucas Criado (h), and Gonzalo Ferrari. Cría Opatí, with a 17-goal handicap, was represented by Milo Laguarda, Mauricio Arocena, Matías Carrique, and Facundo Cruz Llosa.
