And off we go! the much anticipated spring season in Argentina kicked off on Tuesday September 9, with the first day of competition of the 60th. Jockey Club Open, and two matches played at the Jockey Club, set in San Isidro, Province of Buenos Aires. The prestigious tournament that preceeds the Triple Crown, sees six teams between 28 and 33 goals, partake.
Pilot and La Irenita opened fire, with La Irenita getting off to a better start. However, and led by a remarkable Jeta Castagnola, Pilot managed to bounce back and claim an 11-7 win.
Up next, title holders, La Hache, met La Aguada. Although the contest was very balanced during the first half, La Hache managed to produce nine goals on penalty conversions, and at the end of the day, Hilario Ulloa and Co. won 12-8.
Action will resume on Friday September 12, with two games, that will take place at the Argentine Association of Polo Headquarters, in Pilar:
11am: La Hache vs Scone
1,30pm: Pilot vs Kazak

The final of the Jockey Club Open is due on Saturday September 20.
