The 25th. Open de France Barnes, the most remarkable tournament in France, have its semifinals already set, following the quarter finals, that were played through Saturday September 13 and Sunday September 14, at the Polo Club du Domaine de Chantilly, set in La Ferme d’Apremont, 30 minutes away from Paris. La Magdeleine, Octogone, Kazak and Essso are the four teams due to clash for the two spots in the final. The 25th. Open de France Barnes sees sixteen teams up to 16 goals, partake.
The summary of the quarter finals is the following:
Saturday September 13:
La Magdeleine claimed the first ticket to semifinals after a narrow 14-13 win over Clinova Noa, in a very hard fought game, that was decided in the last minutes in regulation time, through a 30-yards penalty converted by Jerónimo del Carril. Up next, and in another tough contest, Octogone beat Brittany 8-6, with the former under the command of Pelón Stirling and a remarkable Louis Hine, whose accuracy to convert penalties (a total of five) was crucial.
Sunday September 14:
Essso and Télédou met up to play the first quarter final of the day, with the latter as the dominant force until the fourth chukka. Essso managed to bounce back in the fifth, to tie at 10-all and sent the match into an extra chukka. That’s when Sapo Caset produced his ninth goal to secure Essso the 11-10 victory. Last but not least, and in the clash of the French organisations, Kazak and Talandracas fought for the last spot in semis. Kazak seized the reins thoroghout the whole game, but Talandracas managed to make a comeback and tied 9-9 in the last chukka. Just like in the previous game, the contest was decided in an extra chukka, when Fran Elizalde converted a penalty – Kazak won 10-9 and stepped into semifinals.
