By Gonzalo Etcheverry Caracas Polo and Sebucan secured a place in the final of the 20-goal Campeonato Abierto de Polo Agualinda Victor Jose Vargas Santaella, that takes place at Caracas Polo. Caracas Polo beat Los Samanes II 13-8, in a very well played match, that was dominated by Victor Vargas' foursome from start to end. Vargas himself scored many goals in the much balanced game against a tough team like Los Samanes II. Earlier in the day, in the first semifinal, Sebucan edged Eliette Polo by a 11-9 score, in a very narrow game, that showcased high level polo from both teams and a very close end. Sebucan and Eliette Polo were tied at 9-all by the start of the last chukker, but it was Juan Harriott who scored twice, and gave Sebucan the win and a spot in the final. A subsidiary semifinal was also played, where Los Samanes beat Los Apamates by a tight 9-8. The schedule for the finals, due on Saturday, at Caracas Polo, is the following: 2pm - Subsidiary Final Los Samanes vs. Eliette Polo 4pm - Final 20 goal 20-goal Campeonato Abierto de Polo Agualinda Victor Jose Vargas Santaella Caracas Polo vs. Sebucan FACUNDO CASTAGNOLA - SEBUCAN POLO It was a very tough game. We played against Eliette Polo in qualifiers and we knew they were very hard, but fortunately we could win. We were tied in the last chukkers, and we were fortunate enough with those two last plays. We were smart enough to take advantage of them and take the win home. It will be a hard final against Caracas Polo, a team that has very good players and a great organization. GASTÓN LISOLI - CARACAS POLO We're very happy to have advanced to the final. It was a hard match against a very good team with Nico Espain, Diego Araya and Lalo James. All of them are playing very good, as well as Luis Silva, who is playing his first 20-goal competition. Tomorrow we expect a hard final against Sebucan, in a tournament that's becoming more and more competitive each year. But we hope to maintain our good level and win the cup.
