Santa Catalina ERSA (Photo AAP)Santa Catalina ERSA, the team of the province of Corrientes, defeated La Violeta (Entre Rios) by a 7-6 score, and won the Campeonato Argentino del Interior con Handicap (CAIH), that took place at Club Hípico Santa Catalina, in the province of Corrientes, next to the Parana River, in the Argentine Litoral. Winners were led by their key man, Gerardo Mazzini, who scored five of the six goals of his teams (Santa Catalina ERSA received one goal on handicap), all through penalty convresions, in a very hard fought match, plenty of fouls and just a few field goals. Score Santa Catalina ERSA: (1-0) 3-2, 4-2, 5-3, 6-3, 7-4, 7-6. In other finals, San Sebastian Iscot (Santa Fe) took the Copa Amistad, by defeating Santa Catalina La Merced (Corrientes) 13-7, and the Copa Roberto Cavanagh went to Chapaleufu Melicurá Municipalidad de Dolira (La Pampa), who beat La Arisca (Tucuman) 10-6. At the awards presentation, La Violeta's Federico Gadea took the Fair Play Award. Former Argentine football star, Gabriel Batistuta, presented Santa Catalina ERSA's Gerardo Mazzini the award as the match's top scorer. The Best New Player Award went to Santa Catalina ERSA's Juan Cruz Meabe. The Argentine Polo Pony Breeders Association awarded Lift Chichaca No. 6 as the BPP, and the Argentine Polo Association presented a BPP award to Luisa, ridden by Gerardo Mazzini and owned by Tulio Acquarone.
