This past Sunday high-goal polo players battled it out in the competition for the Monty Waterbury Cup on a beautiful, sun-filled afternoon at Greenwich Polo Club. Peter Orthwein's team, Airstream, went up against the Shreve, Crump & Low team. The Shreve, Crump & Low team is new this year and includes players Christopher Brant, Joaquin Panelo, Matias Magrini and Kris Kampsen. Christopher Brant, President of White Birch Paper and Peter Brant's son, made his return to competing at Greenwich Polo Club (he previously had a team about 10 years ago). It was a hotly-competed match, but Airstream ended up taking the win 10-9.

The MVP of the match was Guillermo Aguero and Best Playing Pony was Matias Magrini riding Presumida. Greenwich Polo Club players Mariano Aguerre and Nick Manifold bred Presumida at their poly pony farm, Los Machitos in Argentina. All the players who participated in the game were presented with custom-made silver trophies by Shreve, Crump & Low and Manhattan Saddlery draped Presumida with a lush, green blanket.

The June 14th match featured two tented VIP events for Serendipity Magazine and the Luxury Marketing Council. Michael Coughman from Coughman Insurance did the honors with the first ball toss on behalf of Serendipity Magazine. The Luxury Marketing Council event included a Q&A session with Greenwich Polo Club's Managing Director and U.S. Polo Association Northeast Circuit Governor Leighton Jordan, as well as professional polo players Mariano Aguerre and Kris Kampsen.

Polo fans also enjoyed a performance by the CONN Artists a cappella group and feasted on delicacies from food trucks Lobster Craft, Caffe Bon, Skinny Pines, Sal's and La Fenice Gelato and signature drinks from the on-site J House specialty cocktail bar. DJ Kunjan Collective was spinning tunes at the game and after party and 300 lucky shoppers received gift certificates from Intermix at its pop up retail shop.

The finals of the Monty Waterbury Cup, a USPA, National Event, will continue next Sunday.
