      Beach polo in Belgium

New edition of Scapa Sports Beach Polo

      Loewe wins in Knokke Heist
      May 28, 2012
The 14th. Edition of the Scapa Sports Beach Polo was held in Knokke-Heist, one of the most exclusive lavish beach resorts in Belgium. The competition, played on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, featured six teams up to 12 goals, that showcased three players apiece, including defending champions, Merit Capital.
The final of the tournament had Loewe and Scapa Sports fighting hard on the beach. Scapa had a stronger start, led by Santiago Cernadas, and well supported by Michael Redding. Loewe made a comeback in the second chukker, when the scoreboard read a tie. The match then had a hard fought third and last chukka. Loewe seemed to be in control of the situation, but a penalty conversion by Santi Cernadas levelled the scores once again. The last thing both teams had in mind was to give up, but one had to win. That's what happened when less than a minute remaining, MVP David Bernal scored the winning goal for Loewe.

In the other finals, Tom Tailor took the fifth place after a 4-3 win over Land Rover, while the third place went to Merit Capital, after defeating Pommery by the same score.

In between the finals of the fifth and third place, there was a time for the draws of the Diamond Cup and the 22 International Scapa Trophy, that will be held at Antwerp Polo Club, in Kapellen, on June 23 and 24, and will feature PoloLine exclusive live coverage to bring in all the details of the tournament.

The awards ceremony of the Scapa Sports Beach Polo was presented by Count Leopold Lippens, the Mayor of Knokke-Heist. The tournament is completely hosted by the famous clothes brand, Scapa Sports, and the sponsors were Scapa (the brand that has Michael Redding as CEO), Merit Capital, Tom Tailor, Pommery, Land Rover and Loewe.

Mayor Lippens thanked Michael Redding for all his efforts on the 14 consecutive years of this competition, that it's already one of the most prestigious and best summer events of the city. Next, a fashion show was held, and everybody gave a look at Scapa Sports' latest collection.
